Founded in 1912, the Cartier Tortue became an instant hit with its unique shape and precise design, quickly becoming one of Cartier’s most popular collections. Its bold name (Tortue means tortoise in French) and its unique shape match Cartier’s classic designs and belong to the same category as the Tonneau, Baignoire, and Crash watches, making them timeless classics. At the upcoming SIHH 2014 Haute Horlogerie Geneva, Cartier is giving this collection a fresh twist to maintain its feminine appeal.
The new Cartier Tortue features soft lines, ultra-thin profiles, large dials, unique shapes, and a refined style, with perfect design and craftsmanship that make it one of Cartier’s most iconic pieces. Instead of the original dome crystal, the new Tortue now has a flat surface, emphasizing the sophisticated elegance for women.
Roman numerals, sword-shaped hands, and a wheat-ear decorated dial are continuations of the classic looks from the past. The new Tortue is powered by a hand-wound mechanical movement and comes in white, pink gold, and diamond-set versions.
Truda Lambert –
I bought one last year, but lost it while traveling. This time I bought another one of this watch. After receiving it and wearing it, it is still so beautiful. I hope I won’t lose it again this time.
