In the two-tone model, Cartier flips the stones of two colors upside down to create a contrasting look. Diamonds with black spinels, Paraiba tourmalines with tsavorite, pavilions with studs. To achieve this, the Maison’s artisans have used another innovative and detailed setting technique to create a jewelry watch with a strong character and rich texture.
The Coussin de Cartier comes in two limited editions, created by the R&D and innovation teams of the Cartier watch workshops. The creative department designs soft-touch and flexible cases set with diamonds or colored gemstones like emeralds, tourmalines, tsavorites, and sapphires.
The carefully crafted watch is made up of gold links that form a grid structure with interlocking parts, and a new component that lets the case shrink and stretch freely. This design is a first for Cartier, and the different sizes and colors of the stones make it even harder to make. Because of the watch’s flexible design, the setter must first fix the watch with resin and then remove it, making the production process even more complex.
