Description
Rolex’s most colorful sports model is none other than the GMT-MASTER, or Greenwich Style, which has a history as long as that of the SUB (Ref. 6204 in 1953) and is based on the Ref. 6202 released in 1954. Compared to the water ghost, which has remained unchanged for a hundred years, Greenwich’s biggest feature is its liveliness and versatility.
The GMT hand is made of bright red (with more green and blue in later models), and the outer ring features a red and blue contrast to enhance the visual effect. In addition to the normal local time, the 24-hour hand can accurately show the difference between day and night and can also be used to rotate the outer ring to quickly calculate the second time zone.
Besides the multi-colored bezel, GMT’s straps initially came with both a commemorative strap and an Oyster strap. The new five-bead strap is simply a return to tradition, and it may be switched back to the Oyster strap in the future, so there is no need to be surprised or rush into buying the new one.
