Since its launch in 1952, the Constellation series has been a classic and elegant observatory watch. It was not until the 1980s, with the launch of the Constellation Manhattan watch, that the Constellation series underwent tremendous changes.  In the years that followed, the Constellation Manhattan went through numerous iterations and gradually evolved into what we see today.

The most recent major evolution of the Constellation series occurred in 2020. In that year, OMEGA launched the new Constellation 41mm Master Chronometer. The most impressive aspect of the 41mm Constellation is not its size, but the fact that the ceramic bezel appeared for the first time on a non-sports watch.

Its appearance not only makes the Constellation series look more youthful but also eliminates the scratches caused by daily wear that were common in previous Constellation models. This year, OMEGA once again brought us a surprise, launching a very beautiful and rare meteorite disc Constellation. They introduced not only a 41mm men’s watch meteorite disc version but also 25mm, 28mm, and 29mm women’s models.

Meteorite dials have always been synonymous with rarity, and each dial is unique. Compared with the lunar meteorites used by OMEGA on the Speedmaster 321 before, the meteorites used this time are all Muonionalusta meteorites from Sweden.

It is favored by watchmakers and collectors because of its criss-crossing Widmanstätten pattern. When making a dial, the process involves first finding the part with the most beautiful texture, cutting it into thin slices roughly in the shape of the dial, and then polishing them.  After that, the initially polished meteorite slices are bonded to a brass base plate, which is then finely ground and polished again to achieve the final required size and thickness of the dial, with holes and windows drilled. Care must be taken at each step, as any error can result in losing the entire piece.
