Before the brand name was officially called “OMEGA,” the young watchmaker Louis Brandt opened the company’s first watchmaking workshop in 1848. Nearly 50 years later, in 1894, his two sons, Louis Paul Brandt and César Brandt, created a completely new movement that changed the watchmaking industry.
This groundbreaking 19-ream movement was made using the most advanced tools and production methods of the time. The 19-ream movement introduced cutting-edge technology in watchmaking, and the Brandt brothers named it “Omega,” a nod to excellence in watchmaking.
Speaking at the brand’s event in Biel, Switzerland, OMEGA President and CEO Edwin Anthony said, “We are proud to represent the iconic name ‘Omega.’ OMEGA is the only watch brand to have its own movement name, showing the brand’s strong commitment to precision.
