Today we are going to talk about the Sedna Gold Case Panda Commemorative Edition, released in 2015, a new alloy named after Omega that fuses three metallic elements: gold, copper, and palladium. Sedna Gold’s distinctive rosy red hue is partly due to the right proportions of copper, while palladium ensures that Sedna Gold’s red hue is timeless. Thus, Sedna Gold refers to a brighter red gold, or a color close to honey gold.
The hands and indexes of the dial are also made of Sedna Gold, and the hour and minute hands contrast with the “baton” chronograph seconds hand, which has remained shiny over the years. It is worth mentioning that the three hands of the subdial are available in two versions, the second hand at nine o’clock uses an alpha hand, while the other two chronograph hands are ordinary rod heads. Paired with a brown polished ceramic bezel and a matte chrome nitride tachymeter scale, the chiaroscuro refracted by the light creates a strong visual impact.
At the same time, the dial is inspired by Japan’s Speedmaster moon landing in 1997, presenting the same black and white panda face effect. The subdials and outer rim are painted black to contrast with the white chassis. The difference is that the CK2998 has a simpler dial design, and at the same time, the size is strictly in accordance with the original 39.7mm design. There is no bridge protection at the head of the watch, which makes it feel better to wear.
