Created in 2010, the 1904 MC calibre is the first self-winding mechanical movement developed and assembled entirely by the master watchmakers of Cartier’s watch workshops. Its name is highly symbolic and refers to the pioneering spirit of Louis Cartier, who in 1904 created a wristwatch for his close friend and aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, one of the world’s first modern wristwatches. More than a century later, the 1904 MC calibre opens a new chapter in Cartier watchmaking.
This 11½ ligne calibre is equipped with a double barrel, which ensures that the mainspring’s power remains exceptionally steady over time, thus maximizing stability.
Equipped with a sophisticated adjustment system and a stop-seconds feature, this movement perfectly sets the time and ensures unmistakable precision. The oscillating weight of the 1904 MC calibre features a central ceramic ball bearing system, which gives the movement exceptional durability and shock resistance. The innovative pawl system and bidirectional winding mechanism make winding the watch even easier.
