Launched in 1952, the Breitling Navigation Chronograph is the Grenchen-based manufacturer’s most popular collection. Designed specifically for aviation use, the aviation chronograph’s unique slide rule bezel allows pilots to quickly perform flight-related calculations, including rate of climb or descent, fuel consumption, and airspeed.
Over the years, the Navigation Chronograph has continued to evolve, adding several sub-models to the range, including the Chrono-matic, LED Digital, and Montbrillant. The core Navigation Chronograph range remains today, with enthusiasts able to choose from 41 watch styles, as well as a host of collectible vintage references that exude a touch of old-world charm.
Breitling’s iconic timepiece has gone through many iterations since its debut 70 years ago, but this new Navitimer keeps its most classic functions while modernizing them. These features have been improved. The flat circular flight slider and hemispherical crystal glass create a more stylish silhouette. Alternating polished and brushed metal elements create a striking yet understated look. Most notably, new dial colors – blue, green, and copper – define the new dial styles. If there’s one new element destined to spark nostalgia, it’s the return of the AOPA wings to their original 12 o’clock position.

I was a bit hesitant to buy this watch because I was worried about the fit, but even though it isn’t a stretchy band, it fits really well. If you have a smaller wrist, they even include a tool to adjust the size a bit. The material is excellent—it’s heavy and feels very high quality. Will definitely buy again
