Pasha has been strong since its debut in 1985. This was true even before it was officially launched. As we all know, the most delicate part of a watch is the movement, which is assembled from hundreds of tiny, precise pieces; water, in particular, should be kept away. Although the case is well protected, the crown and the case back are areas where moisture can still get in. For this reason, when Cartier created the Pasha prototype in 1943, it used a special protective feature that sealed the inside and outside with a rotating lid attached to the outer crown by a chain. It wasn’t until 1985 that this design was officially introduced with the Pasha de Cartier, and it remains a distinct Cartier hallmark to this day.
The Pasha de Cartier case in 18K rose gold, bezel set with 48 diamonds (1.15 carats), 35 mm diameter, hours, minutes, seconds, date, automatic 1847 MC movement, power reserve 40 hours, sapphire crystal and case back, water-resistant to 100 meters, blue alligator leather strap with grey alligator leather strap with quick-release and link adjustment.
Today’s new generation of Pasha de Cartier is even more impressive. In addition to the classic chain-shaped crown, the sapphire crystal case back, which is securely fastened with eight screws, can handle pressures of up to 10 bar (equivalent to a water resistance of 100 meters). Under the case back, it features the Cartier-made 1847 MC automatic movement, an escapement made of nickel-phosphorus alloy, and an anti-magnetic soft iron ring, allowing it to function even in magnetic fields.
