Created in 2013 at the La Chaux-de-Fonds workshop in Cartier, the Double Mystery Tourbillon Movement marks an important milestone in Cartier‘s watchmaking history: the tourbillon appears to float in the air, seemingly unconnected to the rest of the watch.
This tourbillon features a groundbreaking double floating design: the first tourbillon cage rotates every 60 seconds; the second frame, which contains the entire “mysterious” section, rotates every 5 minutes. This requires exceptional skill to meet the demands of a slim case and intricate craftsmanship while maintaining overall balance.
All parts are carefully decorated by hand, with edges smoothed, surfaces brushed, and polished, including the screw heads. New this year, the Roman numerals are paired with skeleton bridges to make the watch even lighter and more elegant. The enchanting magic of the design is enhanced by the transparent openwork look. The rounded curves of the watch and the mysterious movement are complemented by the sharp geometric lines of the skeleton bridges.
