To meet the aesthetic needs of this unique timepiece, Cartier has developed two new movements in its watch workshop in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. To fit the shape of the watch, Cartier designed an innovative functional structure. Through its mastery of watchmaking skills, we have not only shown technical expertise but also captured the aesthetic appeal in this skeleton watch. Marie-Laure Cérède, Director of Watches at Cartier.
Since 2001, Cartier has focused all its watchmaking expertise, successfully bringing together every step of the process, from development to the creation of watches, seamlessly blending cutting-edge technology with traditional craftsmanship. The result is a timeless and enchanting “sleeping beauty,” the Cloche de Cartier, revived more than 100 years later.
The Cloche de Cartier is one of the rarest designs in Cartier’s watchmaking history. A highly sought-after piece for collectors, it stands out on its own and includes the classic elements of Cartier watches. The minute track and numerals fit neatly into the unique dial; the crown is decorated with a cabochon. The Cloche watch continues Cartier’s watchmaking tradition, while also offering a unique way of wearing it—it can be read on the wrist or taken off the table to become a “miniature table clock.”
