The AP “Code 11.59” is housed in a 41 mm 18-karat rose gold and black ceramic case with a smooth round bezel. It features a lacquered anthracite dial with three sub-dials. Its chronograph functions include an integrated column wheel chronograph mechanism and a flyback function that allows the stopwatch to be restarted instantly without the need to stop and reset. The watch comes on a black rubber-coated strap with an 18-karat rose gold pin buckle.
- AP slowly refined the Code 11.59 series by experimenting with many different variables such as materials, complications, and colors. It seems the process is far from over, as there are a wide variety of options in the collection, some of which are so similar that they almost appear to overlap.
- The brand will also increase production of the Code 11.59 from about 2,000 units in 2020 to more than 5,000 units in 2023, accounting for about 10% of its total production, which currently stands at about 55,000 units per year.
- New features for the Code 11.59 41 mm chronograph series (Ref. 11.59). 26393 are powered by the date-driven flyback chronograph caliber 4401, which is also present in the latest generation of Royal Oak chronographs. This time it’s in black ceramic, with the bezel, lugs, and pushers in 18-karat rose gold. The watch also features a crown made of black ceramic and 18-karat rose gold, and a black patterned dial. All models come standard with a matching rubber-coated textured strap.
- To be sure, the Code 11.59 series has never been without controversy. Of all the new models we’ve seen over the past five years, my preference has always been firmly in favor of the more complicated models, from the new flyback chronographs all the way up to the RD#4. I find that these models bring more depth to the Code 11.59 than the regular automatic models because, at times, or indeed angles, the design of the Code 11.59 can look quite minimalist—especially the front. So the extra features that come with complications are always welcome in my eyes. With that said, let’s see what the future holds for the Code 11.59 and which direction Audemars Piguet chooses to take.

This is the third watch I have bought. My third son is about to graduate and go to work in Chicago. I plan to give him this watch before he leaves. Although it is not an original watch, it represents my thoughts.👈
