Cartier (Cartier), as a longtime name at SIHH, also brought several of its new products to the show, including a Cartier double tourbillon watch.
Imagine a watch with a tourbillon mechanism that seems to float in the air – a dream that Cartier has made real with the new 9454 MC double mystery tourbillon movement, which has earned the Poinçon de Genève for quality. A closer look shows the wonder of this mechanism. The flying tourbillon, which spins every 60 seconds, appears to be completely suspended in the air, seemingly disconnected from the rest of the watch. When the tourbillon cage begins its second rotation every 5 minutes, this magical visual effect is finally achieved. This double mystery floating tourbillon is not just a blend of Cartier’s bold creativity and watchmaking skill but also the essence of the brand’s mysterious timepieces that have been crafted for over a century.
Beneath the simplicity and elegance lies a highly complex mechanism, and the highlight of this Rotonde de Cartier is the innovative feature known as the “double mystery.” The master watchmakers at Cartier had to show great creativity and flexibility to make the most of the materials and movements and create a series of stunning kinetic wonders. Just as magicians need to distract their audience from the visual tricks and illusions they create, the team behind the Rotonde Double Mystic Tourbillon took inspiration from Jean-Eugène Robert-Houdin, the father of modern magic, to design a visually captivating experience.
