This year,Cartier continues the style of Haute Horlogerie, blending the brand’s spirit of excellence with innovative craftsmanship, merging a mystery movement with a day/night display to bring the beauty of time to life.
The epitome of Cartier‘s Haute Horlogerie expertise, the Mystery Movementwas created in 1912 as a result of a collaboration between Louis Cartier and master watchmaker Maurice Coüet. The first mysterious table clock, named “Model A,” was inspired by Jean-Eugène Robert-Houdin, the father of modern magic. Let’s take a look at this mysterious watch with aday/night display and experience the beauty of the alternation of time. (Reference: WHRO0042)
For the first time, Cartier has introduced two features to the world of watchmaking at once: the mystery and the day/night display, which the Maison has combined to create a masterpiece of its own. Also introduced in 1912, the day/night display is located in the upper part of the dial, and the sun (hand) is driven by a mystery movement, rising and falling from left to right to show the day, and then passing to the moon (hand) to display the night time. The sun (hand) and moon (hand) alternately show the time of day and night. On the watch, we can feel the magic of the alternation of day and night.
