Description

On June 9, 2023, Sotheby’s New York will hold its “Rare Watches” auction. The auction will feature two Rolex Daytona watches. Both watches were previously owned by Paul Newman, a legendary Hollywood movie star and famous racing driver.

It’s worth noting that the most expensive Rolex watch ever is closely associated with Paul Newman. In 2017, Phillips sold a Rolex Ref. 6239 “Paul Newman” Daytona for $17.75 million (about 120 million yuan at the exchange rate at the time), setting a world record.

This year, Sotheby’s will auction two Rolex watches that were once owned by Paul Newman, the first being the Ref. 16520 “Zenith” Daytona. In 1995, at the age of 70, Paul Newman became the oldest driver to win the GT-1 class at the 24 Hours of Daytona (his team won the GT-1 class).
