From legendary quotes to dusty footprints, the first moon landing is unforgettable in many ways. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, OMEGA has launched a new Speedmaster limited edition watch to pay tribute to these iconic moments.
Now, let us review the journey of the first moon watch. On July 21, 1969, the Speedmaster wrote a new history in the watchmaking industry. In this new timepiece, Moonshine™ 18K gold runs through the overall design of the watch.
Innovation is the key to the success of the “Apollo 11” 50th Anniversary Limited Edition watch. Omega follows this concept and uses a 42mm stainless steel case with a polished Moonshine™ 18K gold bezel. The polished black zirconia ceramic bezel is decorated with an OMEGA Ceragold® tachymeter scale.
The dial is divided into two distinct areas, including a lacquered gray central area and a black outer minute ring. The chamfered hour markers, vintage Omega logo, and hands are all made of Moonshine™ 18K gold, while the central chronograph seconds hand is covered with Moonshine™ 18K gold PVD coating. At 3:15:16 UTC, Buzz Aldrin, wearing an Omega Speedmaster, landed on the lunar surface from the Eagle lunar module. The Speedmaster became the first watch on the moon.
Courage to go where no one has gone before. The black-coated inner case back has a lunar surface texture and is laser-engraved with the footprints left by astronauts on the lunar surface. “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind,” Neil Armstrong’s legendary classic quote is still echoing through time. Now, this famous quote is engraved on the back of the watch in 18K Moonshine™ gold-plated letters.
This watch is paired with a polished and brushed metal bracelet, and the buckle is decorated with a retro “Ω” logo: its design is inspired by the fourth-generation Speedmaster watch.
Evan Doris –
I have nothing to say about the quality of the watches from this store. They are very good. I have bought several of them. This time I bought them for my old classmate. He moved into a new home. I gave him a gift. He liked it very much and said that this watch is definitely a gift. It’s very expensive, and I didn’t tell him where I bought it.
