Omega chose the seahorse pattern, not as an engraving on the back of the watch, but as a filigree enamel dial on the front surface. Around 1954, Omega produced a Seamaster watch with a cloisonné enamel dial, Ref. made by Cadrans Stern Frère (the predecessor of the Stern family, the current owners of Patek Philippe).
The vastness and complexity of the Seamaster series were reflected in the earliest ten years. One of the many Seamaster watches during this period was particularly eye-catching, the Seamaster XVI, Ref. OT 2850, released in 1956. It is a version specially produced by Omega for the 16th Melbourne Olympic Games in the same year. It also commemorates the 25th anniversary of Omega‘s official timepiece since the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics.
Seamaster XVI is an 18K gold watch with a dedicated movement Cal. 471. The distinctive fly scale and lugs in the European style are almost replicas of the constellations of the same period. The seahorse on the back of the watch has been replaced by the Olympics covered with five rings. Olympic Cross of Merit. There are two types of Seamaster XVI disks. One has the three-dimensional XVI wording directly below the Seamaster line at 6 o’clock, and the other uses pictures instead of words. The Olympic Cross is printed on the disk, which corresponds to the same medal engraved on the bottom cover.
More than half a century later, Omega once again launched an Olympic commemorative model named Seamaster 1948. This Seamaster was released in 2012 and was specially produced for the London Olympics in the same year, so it is also called “London 2012”. The new name Seamaster 1948 is a tribute to the previous London Olympics.
1948 was also the birth year of the Seamaster series, so this watch has dual commemorative significance. Seamaster 1948 is limited to 1948 pieces. It is equipped with Co-Axial coaxial movement Cal. 2202 specially made for this watch. It has a steel case and an appearance design that completely replicates the first Seamaster Ref. CK 2518. It is both internally and externally. One of the most collectible Omega watches.
Tom Salome –
I’ve been looking at watches every day recently, and I’ve gone to the mall to see them several times, but they were too expensive and I really didn’t have that much money to buy them, so I bought one online. After receiving it, I compared it carefully and found that the appearance was the same. , I haven’t had any problems wearing it until now.👍👍
